And by the way, in the "I can put my money where my mouth is"...
I've been a full-time instructor for over a year now. Several of my students have been hit hard financially - either they lost their job (thus the interest in learning/upgrading skills), and/or their spouse lost their job. Tensions are high, very high, for them to learn as much as they can and get a job.
I've personally invested a substantial amount of time helping these people out after hours, from anything from working with them and career services, helping them with their resume, helping them prepare for tech interviews, their work portfolio, you name it. Some have had to miss class because they had to take a part-time job, and so I've repeated classes or portions of classes for them.
There have been some happy endings, as I've helped people to get placed with decent/good jobs. Over the last month the amount of time I've spent on this has gone up even greater, at a time where my heatlh was previously compromised. I do it because it's the right thing to do.
I'm a firm believer that free and unrestrained citizens are much better at helping people help themselves, rather than the government doing it. You'll have zero chance of convincing me otherwise.
So unless you have something comparable to contribute, tossing out empty quotes and believing it means something, doesn't count for sh__.
