>Wealth declared as $ is of little value if other people decide that barter or pillage is a better scheme. IOW you are completely reliant on everybody else co-operating with your preferred method of declaring wealth. When it works, it works really well. But if things seem to be stacked against one group in favor of another, history shows people storming the Bastille or throwing tea off ships. We're not talking so-called no-hopers here: we're talking about people from every strata of employment who are starting to believe that the system has failed them.

FWIW I was present when a riot erupted a few years back; it began as a free concert in a civic square and exploded into a full riot with looting and overturned cars, for no apparent reason. Give people a reason and the risk increases an order of magnitude IMHO.

Should be whole social policy downgraded to crowd pleasing due to 'pragmatic consideration'? If you drop piece of meat here and there then at the end you will be out of meat and ever-hungry crowd (fostered to expect free meat only) will eat you anyway.
