That's the source of confusion - hourly rate for an employee or hourly rate for a consultant. A consult figures billing 1000 hours a year and all else is gravy, so if you want 150k, bill $150 an hour. An employee figures annual salary / 2000. $75 an hour that way is pretty good money (especially with benefits)

And there is a whole lot of difference in value between a "coder" and an business analyst/ software designer.

If we asked everyone here to say what they get paid anonymously, I bet it would be much lower, based on a standard deviation or some other way of taking the anomalies out.

>>>And their low number was about $65/hr, not the $25 you said you've heard people work for. Don't you think that they have already removed the $200 and $25 from the equation? Your posts implies that the rates referenced were way too low, not just the high value. I say that the mid bar, at about $75/hr, is actually higher than us average VFP coders get. I bet it's more like $40/hr for the average Joe working permanent.

>Yeah
>$40.00 translates to about 80K. Thats pretty good money. Throw in health ins. and it's becomes very nice package.

Though a good deal is too strange to be believed, nothing is too strange to have happened.
- Thomas Hardy

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.

-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.
- Ben Franklin

Pardon him, Theodotus. He is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature.
