I meant the ability to break from the United States to become it's own State again. Up until the Civil War, Texas was the only state that could legally leave the Union and be 'the United States of Texas' again. If memory serves, and I don't swear it does, Texas also had to give up the option of breaking into 5 separate states at the same time.
