>>I need to get someone a very simple MP3 player that has very easy to use software to load songs on to it. My girl loves her iPod, but the iTunes software is much more complicated to use (for me anyway) that it needs to be. A friend of mine - not computer literate much - wants to get a player and I want to make it as foolproof as possible. I've tried to just copy songs onto an iPod, but if you don't use the iTunes, it doesn't seem to work. Any recommendations for either the player or the software?

Yes, and it is annoyingly unintuitive. Every time she wants something added to her iPod I have to relearn how to do it. And there is never time to write down the steps.

Just want a good player with simple software (drag and drop would be great). Don't need playlists, and all that. Just if it is put on the player, then play it.
