>>>>>>>>Maybe I'm a bit slow on this but are AVG now bullying us into buying, rather than FREE. Lately all my updates have failed, I go to their site, there's no free edition offered, a link for free users' updates that goes round in a loop, etc. Any recommendations?

>>>This is beginning to sound as if there might be mod done by a nasty little virus. What do you think? If you concur try getting stinger from McAfee. It's free. Here's the link to it: http://us.mcafee.com/virusInfo/default.asp?id=stinger

>FYI - I recently cleaned a machine that had similar symptoms. The virus was named brisv.alinf - Oddly I notice that if the letters are re-arranged it spells virvs.final Looks as if the jerk who wrote the thing cannot spell :))

Either that or a good knowledge of Latin masonry, where they didn't use the uc "U", but "V", as in "I CLAVDIVS" - so smarter than you think :-)

>The fellow who got the virus had clicked on a notification in a yellow line across the top of this screen that invited him to download free anti-virus named 360AV - I read somewher that you may have to resort to 'manual removal' - I had success by running AVG on slow scan over night. Good luck, Terry.

Thanks a lot, Grady
