Are you sure it's the first level class (container and combo and not already subclassed)? I don't want to connect to work to test it right now (it's almost 12am and I'm tired), but if this is just a simple container and a combo you should be able to delete the combo or copy it to a different class, AFAIK. I don't see a reason why it would not work.
