yeah I've seen enough ERs, St Elsewheres and Chicago Hopes to realise that the poor do get care - and there are charity hospitals - but they always seem to have budget crises and have to decide what eqpt to not buy etc. OTOH the fee-paying , private room patients can waltz straight in. Now then, over here we have private hospitals and those covered by private medical ins, such as BUPA, where you can waltz in get the best of care, etc. As for the rest of teh NHS, it tries to be equitable so the fund is spread thinly, so we have a cross between the best of care, as in the USA and Canada, and "mercy hospitals".
