Robert,
I don't know if the ODBC drivers (or what version of same drivers) could cause the corruption.
Did you check the records in your source data files? Are you sure that the corruption occurs during the update process of the destination tables ?
I know it would be great to figure out the cause of the problem, in the meantime you could try applying a filter/cleanup process to your data before or during the DDE.
Just another thought...
