John, what type of DBF file is your accounting app using? And what kind of indexes (which could give a clue to your problems).

>I have a vfp30 application that needs to access tables in an accounting program using what appears to be dbase tables. I can read the table from inside vfp, but vfp informs me it will convert the table's memo fields (also stating that the conversion can be undone). When I ok the conversion, read the file, modify the file, and then use the suggested "COPY TO filename TYPE" command the file is corrupted and the accounting application can't read it. Is there a way to make this happen without corrupting the file?
