Thanks for your reply. The index files are .mdx so my guess is Dbase. I have been here before with VFP and this same type of file problem. My solution then was to go to MS Access which reads and writes this file format just fine. I was hoping that someone out there knew of a trick to make it happen in VFP. I may have to go with the odbc approach, but that is rather new to me, so I may be forced to do a good ole' fashioned export import thing.
