You're kidding right? SQL Server is a dog compared to VFP in all but super heavy load situations. SQL 7 is noticeably better than SQL 6.5 but still a far
cry from VFP performance - heck given transaction logging there's no chance.

Embedded SQL (I'm assuming you're talking about hte desktop version) is going
to be a stripped down versino of SQL that will allow to run on Win98. I haven't
seen anything on this, but I would guess this not going to be a fast solution.
Besides the footprint (4 megs is the goal I heard which is heft for just a data engine) it's unlikely that performance can be tweaked to work well both on
98 and NT...

Not a great fan of SQL Server <s>, although some recent tuning and some much
higher end hardware improved what had become a dead end - at the cost of
mega $$$...
