Just tried building a WPF app skeleton and added my bus project. When running BLG I got the same exception with the same stack trace.

Here is another possibly helpful hint on as to why Factory property never gets initialized:

the constructor - mmAppBase() in mmAppBase.cs never fires, hence this.ApplicationInit(); never fires, hence Factory = CreateFactory(); never executes, so it's null.
