I can't say whether our experience was typical but both times for us the nurses were the stalwarts. The docs were fine but they tend to swan in near the end. The nurses were there from soup to nuts (two shifts of them the first time). Yeah, the docs were in and out like a jackrabbit on a date (I love it when I can quote Christmas Story).....but the nurses at our hospital were always for us and were top notch. I wrote a letter to the hospital group and praised the nurses (by name) who helped us. Their jobs aren't easy but they were professional and very friendly.
I must have asked about a million stupid "first-time-dad" questions, and they took the time to answer every one of them. By the time we got home, I was in a position to do everything except pump. (god, I wish I could re-word that last one)
