And to add even more confusion, some products are charged sales tax and others aren't. For example, when I do grocery shopping, prepared foods such as potato salad, is charged sales tax, but other things, like potatoes, mayo, eggs, etc needed to make it aren't. So a single store needs to track whether each item is taxable.
