I realize there were other conditions of the plea bargain....and I realize that this is a very personal issue for me.
When I was fifteen, I had a high school friend who was killed by a drunk driver. My friend was walking near a bridge, when a guy who was drunk came FLYING across in a van...he hit my friend and killed him. This kid (his name was Joey) was a straight A student, a good athlete, and funny as hell. He was actually the first person I admired who was my own age....and his life was taken in seconds.
It was three days before summer vacation, and I spent much of the summer either angry as hell or depressed as hell. So drunk driving is like a mortal sin to me. It is hard for me to imagine any sentence they could have imposed on Stallworth that I would have considered excessive.
