How on earth does a burka or a kippah become a weapon? What does freedom of religious dress have to do weapons and pediphelia? Nothing.

You are stretching because you do not have a valid argument supporting supression of religion. Or if you do, you haven't presented it here. Christians have been violent in the past (even recently) so do we ban worship services since they might gather there and plan their attacks? Or do we ban the bible because someone may decide to use it to hide an explosive device? Do we ban wearing the cross next? Who knows what priests are hiding under their robes, maybe an AK47?

The issue is not whether or not they wear a burkha, the issue is whether or not a woman wears a burkha by choice.

>Freedom of religion? Does these women have any freedom to start with? How far can you go with freedom of religion? If I start a new religion where it's perfectly normal to have sex with a 5 year old child, would you still say it's freedom of religion?

>>I agree that to me it represents subservience and repression. However, to others, it is a part of their religion. We do not ban head scarves and burkas and I feel doing otherwise is suppressing freedom of religion. I think both should be allowed in school as well. Are kippahs banned as well? What about the robes some religion members wear?
