I'm not too sure I see the point of putting an opaque rectangle over the top of printed output.

You might try playing with the pen that draws the shape, I don't have VFP9 available at the moment to tell you how (or if it's possible) to do it. On Form objects DrawMode and FillStyle control the appearance of objects with respect to what you are trying to do. You might also try to bring your shape on top of the other form objects.

If the above ideas don't work you can do your own "clipping" of the text fields where they intersect the rectangle (change the width of the text fields).
