Slow is a new piece here for me. I though the problem was that you had strange characters in the method code and that the report designer freezes? What you might want to try is running PROCMON from Sysinternals while you modify the report. Maybe VFP is accessing a file or searching for some remote directory that isn't available. Even though I have no idea why this would happen permanently when you edit the report.
