BBQ in Austin....

y'see the thing about Austin is, anyone you ask is going to have a different idea of what good barbeque is - but here's mine.

If you like Beef ribs, Ironworks (http://www.ironworksbbq.com/). They're on the very south side of downtown next to the convention center and worth the drive from anywhere in Austin. They also do great brisket and turkey.

Rudy's (which is a chain based mostly in Texas (http://www.rudys.com/default.aspx) does a VERY nice prime rib (yes, smoked prime rib) and good pork loin along with 3 levels of 'moistness' on their brisket. They also do some absolutely EVEEL creamed corn

I've not been to these, but I have friend's that swear by them.

SaltLick (http://www.saltlickbbq.com/) - it's a 'bring yer own cooler o'beer' place but I've heard good things about them

If you want live music with your BBQ there's Stubb's (http://www.stubbsaustin.com/)


If you're looking for some good 'Southern' cooking, then you'll want 'Hoover's Cookin' (http://hooverscooking.com/) - I don't think I've had anything there that wasn't at least very good.

If you'll let me know what part of Austin you'll be in, I might could narrow down a selection of places to go.
