>>>In Canada, if we disagree with what medicare offers as a treatment, we have the right and freedom to pay for any operation we want and to have the operation done in any country we choose. We are not victims of medicare, we are users of the system provided. Like you, I used to fight hard against medicare. But, now that it is established, I think it's great. It won't hurt you. It will make life even better.

>>How can you have the freedom to pay for any operation you want if government already took your money to pay for operations prescribed by government? Freedom without money (i.e. without financial independence from govt) is just something close to one hot and volatile substance.

>Yes, if you are under 65, you pay monthly and over and above that you may hire a doctor and have a job done at your own expense. I know a fellow who wanted a different kind of shoulder operation than his doctor recommended. He didn't know that doctors here are better trained than doctors in the USA so he went there and had it done.

Really? Is that fact? I'm not disputing it, just curious. Is that the case for the specific operation or in general? Should I be heading to Canada for any surgeries?
