http://windowsteamblog.com/blogs/windows7/archive/2009/07/22/windows-7-has-been-released-to-manufacturing.aspxI waited for this to release rather than upgrading my laptop from Vista to XP.
Now I see Microsoft is continuing their downward slide with new programs not being compatible with existing MICROSOFT programs.
I ran the upgrade advisor (beta even though Windows 7 is RTM) and it told me I would have trouble with Visual Studio 2008. Of course - that's a current Microsoft product - naturally a new Microsoft product won't work with a current Microsoft product.
I figured I'd get past that using a virtual machine if needed, so..
After downloading the X86 Ultimate from MSDN, I tried to upgrade..
Ran the upgrade, and it refused telling me that the following need to be uninstalled..
Intel PROSet/Wireless
Microsoft SQL Server 2008
Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1 *
ATI CATALYST Install Manager *
ATI Catalyst Control Center *
GoogleToolbar
SigmaTel Audio Control Panel
Microsoft SQL Server 2008 - not compatible with Windows 7 eh? Very nice. Very nice.
Google toolbar is not installed on my machine - never has been. I checked throught the registry and find no references either.
It's too bad Microsoft is no longer functional. I really liked their products for a long time.
Linux never has been a reasonable alternative. Mac is far too limited.
Back to XP.
What crap Microsoft.
