>On the concept of "punishment", he has been punished. He did his time in prison. But playing the league is not a right, it's a privilege.

>Vick made 3 mistakes....the first is obvious - but then he lied to his owner, and he lied to the league commish. He has no credibility. He HAD to know that investigators would learn the truth, and/or that the feds would get one of his "partners" to flip.

>Vick will bring tremendous baggage with him - too many distractions. And let's face it - while he was a good QB, he played in a weaker conference.

>On Pitino, I agree....talk about a major hit on his credibility. While I've never looked at Pitino with awe, I always liked him, but am severely disappointed with him.

As a Steelers fan...err...as a 6-time World Champion Pittsburgh Steelers fan...I know I do not ever have to face the prospect of Vick joining my team. Not because of the dog fighting but because Vick outright sucks as a quarterback. Running QBs can make plays and give bad defenses problems, but when they match up with a good D they get shut down and are ineffective. Vick would be best suited as an option on a team dabbling with the wildcat.

Vick is a dirtbag, however, he has paid his debt to society and if the NFL is going to allow multiple-convicted drug users into the hall of fame and murderers on the field, I do not see how they can legally deny a dog killer. Perhaps if they formally adopt some rules regarding off-field behavior, instead of "leaving it to the commissioner" then they'd have some standing going forward.
