There needs to be some reform, but the plan out there isn't it.
Go talk to ANY health care provider, whether it's the family doctor or the large, urban hospital. They'll tell you the same thing. Insurance costs are out of control. Malpractice lawsuits are forcing everyone to pay more for their premiums. Want to reduce health care costs? Get some tort reform.
The second major cause of high health care costs is what's being charged for medications and medical devices. Why? Because the FDA requires far more testing than is required in the rest of the world. This costs the drug and device companies billions of dollars in extra R&D and that's passed on to us. Congress should overhaul the FDA and make it easier to get these things approved.
Do you really trust that the government can get it right? There is already a government health care program. It's called Medicare and it's a total mess.
>Maybe he said that at one point, but that has not been on the table for some time. It disappoints me that reform is dying partly by misinformation like this.
