When did I say that I know those phonies?

I assume that this opinion that you stated earlier:

I hope you're very sincere with those donations and that you don't do it just to look good to others. Some people do that you know.

is based upon some sort of personal experience. If you think that many people are insincere and just want to look good to others (i.e., they are phony), it must be because you have had experience with this sort of person. It would never occur to me to say such a thing about anyone who contributes to a charity because the people that I associate with are simply not like that.

You see nobody knows to which charities I donate time or money. I don't do that so others know how nice I am. I do it because of the good it does to those that I help. I guess we're different that way. You mention how nice you are with all the things you're doing. I prefer others telling me that I'm nice. I guess that we're different at that level.

I was merely responding to this allegation of yours:

instead of helping others by contributing to a public health system you think "I don't care about those others. I had it tough why shouldn't they"

I was making the point that do care about others but I want my charitable acts to be voluntary and not enforced by the government. And BTW, I never claimed to be nice.

ROFL my own ideology. Looks like you hanging to yours also. So you really think that you know more about the Canadian health system than I do?

I never said that I did. All I can speak about is the Canadians who have appeared on the news in this country to tell their horror stories. I have no reason to believe that they are lying. As I said before, I am quite certain that the Canadian system in just fine unless you are ill and require (expensive) and repeated tests to discover the nature of the illness - this seems to be the cause of the horror stories I have seen reported on the news. I also, perhaps mistakenly, assume that it is similar to the system in the UK. 10 years ago, Andy's knee cap had slipped and he was in excrutiating pain whenever he walked. However, since his condition was not life-threatening, he would have had to wait about a year for surgery in the NHS. Fortunately for Andy, he had private health insurance and did not have to spend the next year in excrutiating pain.
