That can be said of every product/technology by every vendor. Java has had things that were "the future", then they were sidelined for something else. It happened in VFP too. Winforms will be around, but not updated.

For an example of how WPF can be used in a business app, look at http://xceed.com/Grid_WPF_Intro.html and click through the screen shots. Granted, some of that stuff can be done natively in Winforms but most would require lots of additional work. Granted, you may need things like customized scroll tips, but think about the entire Ux for the user and how much more useful some of the other functionality would be.

One other point..because of the iPhone and other gadgets, users are expecting more and more sophisticated Ux, even on the PC and even on data entry apps. It's just LOTS easier to supply that with WPF than Winforms.

>Thanks for your input. Although I am not sure if your first statement is 100% correct. M$ invents new technology every couple of years so "WPF is the way to go" might turn into "WPF are won't get updated by MS in the future" in no time {g}.

>And your point about WPF having steeper learning curve and that tools are still in the infancy, does not make the move to WPF so attractive. But are right about these things.
