Most draft protests were due to the view that the draft was unfair because it appeared to target poorer members of society because they couldn't get college deferments.

I had a draft number that would have let me stay home and in school. Most of my friends had been drafted, so I volunteered and joined the Marine Corps. There are some of us who have taken the necessary steps to aid in our security and protection by putting our asses where most people's mouths are.
