c'mon that's a pretty broad statement! Maybe in Germany what you say is true. I see many, many new web apps (and desktop) being developed in VFP. Using the web, vfp developers can extend existing apps or create entirely new ones.
I think many developers unfortunately are at the whim of their users who "heard" these things about VFP. On the other hand, many don't have to worry about it, since the client is results driven not marketing driven.
No doubt vfp is undergoing a change, but I think a better one to the open source world
