It's a mutation of cat distemper and when it first appeared (sometime around 1980/81) we were breeding/selling poodles (no, we weren't a puppy mill). It had a fatality rate of about 80% and it took about 5 years to get the vaccine right because it kept mutating. It was passed in fecal matter and could be walked in from the outside.

Because of this, I have a contact dermititis to Clorox or chlorine bleach - needless to say, indoor swimming pools are my ideal of hell.

>>Clorox or sunlight are the only two things that kill Canine ParvoVirus

>>>The most used product to kill germs in public facilities and in homes. Expect increased sales and dare I say it: shortages due to the H1N1 flu increase expected?

>>>Clorox has started their yearly advertising campaign:

>>>and of course the 'experts' on the news shows recommend using bleach and most consumers go for Clorox in the stores regardless of the fact that the generic brands work just as well.
