>>Ah, yes, now I remember. The 'contemptuous leeches' insult. Basically a similar case, that is, it shows very much disrespect for politicians. Are the American politicians really that corrupt? Perhaps you should emigrate to the Netherlands. You may and will disagree with many or all of our politicians, but they are not corrupt. Trust me.
>>
>>You already told me that I should emigrate. This is starting to get very stupid and it shows that you just don't understand how things are over here. Why should anyone emigrate because of corrupt politicians? This is my country too and, as a matter of fact, I do not work for the politicians, the work for me.

>I'm trying to end my attributions to the thread(s) for now, but I'll react to this one because you come with arguments. The 'advice' wasn't for you, but for Jake. It adds up to two, since you also got that 'advice' (message #1423983). It is my way of showing my dislike of those who show severe disrespect for the politicians of their own country while their leaders ARE democratically chosen. But of course I realize that you (two) won't emigrate. Afterall, you ARE patriots, right? And the USA IS in the end the BEST country in the world, right? And it's also the only country where people really have freedom of speech, right? All other people in other countries do not really understand that concept, right? Oh yes, I forget, you own the country and therefore all your politicians should work for you, right? Sorry for the cynical tone.
>
>I understand that you have concerns about the politics and institutions in your country. But please, give your president some credit. He was chosen democratically.
>
>>All of us that disagree with the current administration are not going to shut up or emigrate. We are going to make our voices heard. Have you seen the news about the march on Washington last Saturday? I think the Daily Mail in the UK estimated close to 2 million ordinary people who showed up just to be heard and let Washington know that we are going to take our country back.
>
>It was impressive, but I understand now it were not 2 million. And the hitler posters were appauling.
>
>>BTW, I am certain that you have corrupt politicians in the Netherlands too - just not as many because it is a much smaller country. Remember: Power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely. It is as true there as it is here.
>
>Our system prevents corruption. Maybe it's because we have a lot of experience with democracy, freedom AND limitations to freedom.

Not all of your countrymen (and internationals) agree with you:

Although, on a whole I would say that the government and its politicians are pretty law abiding and honest - especially compared to all other countries. Either that or there is a massive coverup going on :o)
