Florida is the lightning capital of the U.S. I believe something like 700 people a year are hit by lightning in Florida every year.

Perhaps you could write to Mass Communication 2nd Class Elliott Fabrizio/U.S. Navy and ask him whether he doctored the photo or not :o)
