I could see this being really important for variables - if you're not consistent with casing it becomes more difficult to read to read the text (the word "difficult" is a bit subjective, you may not even notice that it's "more difficult" or that it's taking you slightly longer to work through code because of the inconsistencies).
I suppose the point of this argument is: should the computer language dictate your standards (e.g., forcing case sensitivity) or should it let you choose the standard that fits best for your brain, your team, etc. whenever possible.
