>>Whats the US population Marcia (millions) and how many where at these tea parties (thousands). There's a real danger of allowing policy to be hijacked by a small unrepresentative minority.

>>We all deserve to be heard. As I said before, you cannot say that just because Obama got elected that all of the people who voted for him are still happy with their choice. They were uninformed on the issues and listened only to the commercials and the sound bites. Now they regret voting for him. Are you saying to these people "Too bad. You voted for him and now you are stuck with that and you have to go along with every left wing loony scheme that he has."?

>>That is not the way things work in this country. You will see in 2010 when the American people kick the dems out of Congress.

>So you are saying an elected leader has no mandate. Whats the point of electing anyone then.
It really is different from your system and those in most European nations. Over there the party that is elected actually gets to govern. If the public doesn't like what they do, they vote them out the next time. Here the minority party is able to thwart the wishes of the majority with filibusters and other arcane legislative maneuvers. Also, I think corporate money plays a much bigger role here. It is extremely difficult to pass legislation that will cost corporations money. Ordinary citizens can and are routinely screwed. But not companies.
