Ah the UI. At the moment I'm using the Dabo framework as you know. And currently Dabo is limited to wxPython (although QT is possible nothing has been written). I choose Dabo because at the time it made sense to build on my VFP background. So I too have been limited to wxPython. But I want it understood I like the QT lib's much more. IMO QT looks better and offers more. The problem is PYQT's license cost. I don't think it's a big deal but many in Dabo community do. But pySide (by Nokia) is making an effort to replace PYQT. BTW they are not bad guys just couldn't come to an agreement with RiverBank.

But I have to say that the wxPython really isn't bad - just dated. Today, many of the UI's are very fancy - just take a look at what some of the WFP guys are doing to get a feel of a fancy UI. It's not that dropdowns, combo's work better they just look different and maybe more pleasing to the eye. wxPython has the same look as VFP. Dabo uses mostly different shades of grey for the forms but it looks like VFP in most ways. There are some from wxPython that are attempting to update the UI (and it's a very do start) but much has not been used in Dabo. So recently I have been adding fancy stuff to my forms. Mostly, just adding color but I now have a fancy checkbox, tab pages with fancy tabs (colors for the background too), fancy buttons with graditent backgrounds and few other colorful items all working with Dabo's unique features (like data binding). So between what wxPython and Dabo offers in the UI it works and works well. But even with the work I've done it's not close to what I've seen the QT guys do. I guess most can be done in wxPython but it's all ready there in QT. Then there are the sizers. I see that as the biggest learning curve for VFP'ers. It was for me. Dynamic resizing can be done with VFP but nothing like using sizers.
