Thanks for your great and detailed feedback. I appreciate your honest views on the subject. I hope to make an evaluation of the QT framework using python as language, Chartdirector as imaging toolkit, wxlayer or QT as presentation layer - using its SVG viewer in case of the later - to tackle the output from chartdirector. This for an application currently developped in VFP. One that performs nicely but is now locked up by MS termination of VFP. The only real code reuse will be at Chartdirector level which has proved very stable over the years.

This is not a typical VFP application - not databound. It could basically be developed with most development tools but does not require a data-centrivc toolbox à la fox or dabo. As a die-hard foxpro-er, since foxbase in 86, I definitely favor the python feeling. But as you understand, choosing python is not the end-of-the-the-road in terms of decisions for a full-fledged application. Both good and bad!
