I am using the Security Essentials. I suppose like most things related to security i won't know if it is working until it doesn't <s>.

I am not sure about the XML issue as I don't use XML with VFP and as I said, I have never used the taskpane so I am not sure how I will know if there are any issues there. I won't be doing any new development in VFP so if it doesn't come up in maintaining existing apps I won't know about it.

>>I just installed VFP 9.0 on Win 7 and the only prereq it installed was the runtime and it seems happy other than the taskpane/xml thing but since I've never used the taskpane I don't see it will be a problem <s>

>Interesting, I did not try to work with Vfp9 w/o MSXML 4.0 yet (because I agree with Sergey, assuming that there is more than one thing in the IDE requiring it). Will you post your results?

>The built-in "Windows Defender" is not a full "anti virus" tool, MS says. Since its big brother MS "Security Essentials" is quite new, I'm using it in a few virtual test machines only; I'll probably wait and read articles until it gets a little more mature.

Charles Hankey

Though a good deal is too strange to be believed, nothing is too strange to have happened.
- Thomas Hardy

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.

-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.
- Ben Franklin

Pardon him, Theodotus. He is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature.
