Actually, this would have been my preferred method (only 20-30 records in the inspectors table) but it doesn't seem to work in drop down lists (unless I am doing it wrong - which is a distinct possibility). To test it I entered an inspector "/George Jones" (w/o the quotes) and it displayed the name normally and allowed me to select it. It seems I may be stuck with some messy validation code that will warn the user when they choose an inactive inspector. Not elegant at all!
