Yes, VFP 6.0 has better COM support but it's still a long way from being a great middle-tier solution. I think you'll see MS continue to push Access as an end-user tool, VB as a developer tool, and SQL Server as a data store. Jet will probably disappear and VFP will continue to get limited support as long as there's enough of a market for it.

They are talking about what appears to be a scaled down version of SQL Server 7.0 'DESKTOP EDITION' but what really gets me is in the same article they are talking about building more Jet functionality into Office 2000. Yes, I agree with you - it doesn't make sense except for the ones who are collecting the money. Sure wish Linux would take off. Windows is too damn buggy.
