Title:
Win98 - Computer locks up after installation
I recently had a local computer dealer build a custom PC which contains the following components:
AOpen AP59s motherboard
Cyrix MII 333Mhz. CPU
32Mb. PC100 SDRAM
4Mb. AGP Trident Video Card
To this I have added:
Matrox 6.4 Gb Hard Drive - Primary IDE - Master
36X CDROM - Primary IDE - Slave
I have been able to install MS-DOS 6.2 which ran fine. I then installed the MS-DOS driver for the CDROM and proceeded to install Win98. After Win98 initial install completed it asked me to reboot. Upon rebooting, it proceed to complete the install but hangs when trying to locate hardware devices. I can do a "Step by Step Configuration" boot as long as I say "No" to loading the Win98 drivers.
My questions:
Is there a way to control which Win98 drivers are loaded so that I can narrow down the problem? From my experince, it seems like a all or nothing deal.
Any help is welcome.
Thanks,
Andy
