>Interesting. Here in the USA a convicted felon is not allowed to own a gun EVER.
>Obviously I think that law needs to stay in place - but needless to say it doesn't seem to deter the criminals from having and using a gun. They have to go though illegal channels to get the gun - but any 12 year old with 50 bucks can buy a gun off some bozo on the street here.

Wait a minute here. Are you suggesting that the honour system won't work? That murderers will use guns even after a real life official judge says they can't? They won't even wait the 10 years? Jeez. What a bunch of miserable cheats. That's the last time I put any faith in the honour of a murderer!

>>It gave me a great idea. Instead of picking on just these 6 killers, the government should issue a blanket in-abstentia ban stating that no murderer may own guns. Think what a wonderful place this would be if murderers were not allowed to own guns (for 10 years anyway). Of course, it would have to be on the honour system because the police can't be everywhere, but I can't see how a sterner message could be sent to murderers than this. And think what it would mean when a convicted murderer decides to kill again, knowing that he isn't allowed to use a gun. He might just decide to call it off entirely - at least until his 10 years is up.
