>Maybe I'm being dense here. Are you saying XP mode does not use SMB2? How does it talk to a server? We have a client reporting that they can not get one of our older programs to run (vfp 9 SP1) to run correctly under windows 7 (32bit) XP mode. The program is using DBF's with indexes connecting to windows 2008. This could be many things but still it worries us about other clients moving to windows 7.

WinXp does not use SMB2, but only SMB1. AFAIK, the problem is in the opportunistic locking mechanism and esspecially when a mix of SMB and SMB2 clients are used.
