I agree with you Craig. I always turn off automagic updates on a new computer or any computer that I will be using for an extended period of time. Until M$ can truly read my mind and know for certain when it is a good time for me I will do it manually.
I have some apps that run day and night on customers computers and from time to time I get a call that they lost data between such and such a time and I can usually trace it back to M$ automagic update.
