I'd never even consider a book from Que unless it came highly recommended from someone I trusted. When they were doing their first FoxPro 3.0 book they approached me to be one of the authors. They basically sent a table of contents and asked me to pick from a limited list of chapters that weren't already spoken for. The list was verbatim from the 2.6 book and most of the remaining chapters weren't applicable anymore. Anyway, I tried to get them to consider some applicable subjects instead, but they weren't interested.
Later they approached me to write a foreword recommending the book. They sent me 2 half finished chapters. I misunderstood it as them wanting chapter reviews, so that's what I sent them. They then of course turned around and explained that they wanted me to write something recommending the entire book. When I told them I'd have to see the other 20+ chapters first, they just said they'd get someone else to do it.
