Hi Ellen ---

>In testing (on a P166 64M RAM - new HW is NOT an option at this point), I notice some things seem slower.... especially the speed in which I can type in text fields, the speed I can tab from one control to the next and the time it takes to load a form. Is VFP6 really slower than VFP5?!? My tables are small (maybe 1000 recs on the high side), and I'm not doing anything too fancy.

VFP6 *should be* equal to or faster in the areas you describe than VFP5. This may sound goofy, but check disk fragmentation. In my experiences, my 5 apps that I have recompiled into 6 seem much snappier when bringing up forms especially.
