In SSMS 2005 you have option to "Open" table wich will try to pull all tables records. You either have to wait until all records are fetched or try to cancel the query.
I see now. I agree. I have had to edit some records in a table (that had a lot of records) and had tough time selecting. I will install SSMS 2008 on the new computer.
