I don't agree with your logic. If I read about some legal ruling which I consider outrageous, are my only choices to start my own judicial system or be quiet about it? I stated my opinion, nothing more.

Unless somebody is willing to do that, the choice either is to accept the award that somebody else is prepared to manage, or ignore it. FWIW there may be only one "community" member selected by the other committee members to consider open nominations, but that's more democratic than it used to be and people still agreed with the selections when it was a closed process so it all comes out OK in the end.
