>>So, I happened across an interview on 2020 last night. A gal was talking with what seemed to be the children of middle east imigrants. The kids have been so misled that they believe the CIA hired Al Qaeda to fly planes into the World Trade center buildings. The reason given, by the kids, for this happening is: So the USA would be at war and could go to the middle east to kill muslims. Is this a common belief in the middle eastern communities? And who is selling them this crap?
>
>Hey, I bet you could find all kinds of people in the US who would believe it - except they'd probably emphasize making money for Haliburton as first motive with killing muslims only secondary. Everyone one is entitled to an opinion and the amount of knowledge seems to be inversely proportional to the passion of the conviction.

>Odd that it never occurs to anyone that if the issue were a Crusade or a pretext for financial gain since the hijackers were predominantly Saudis it would have made sense to seize Saudi Arabia, hold Mecca hostage and take all the oil.

>Likewise in Iraq, it would have been techinically feasible to seize the southern oil fields, carpet bomb everything else with no boots on the ground and cut a deal with the Kurds for the Mosul fields.

Yes but that kind of scenario would cause whole world reaction against perpetrators. Immagine Russia/China + few others being ellegible to colectively jump into conflict on a bold premise of preserving world order / freedom against 'axis of willing/determined'
(to loot resources)

Name of the game here was to do exactly what you say, and yet fool entire world into actually having to support it.
In this respect War-on-Terror defenetely deserves an Oscar. (Despite being biggest ever b-class movie/propaganda)

Even donkeys in Afganistan/Iraq are capable of understaing this by now, so why is so strange to you that
some middle eastern teenagers (they do attend colledges as well!) are talking/thinking completely outside
CNN/FOX/ABC/CBS/.../WC doctored version of reality.
To some of them is not at all far fetched to think that Al-Aaeda occasionally 'speaks english'.
See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9RBXerP0p3Q
(You can google on media coverage on this as well to see how well it has been reported on your side of the pond)

To the people there it is enough to simply walk out to the street and they will witness the first hand,
how well western media is depicting their reality. So it is natural that they make thier own conclusions.

What I find amasing is that some people in US still watch and actually believe, whatever above
mentioned budle-of-disgrace-media is digesting and throwing at them as an daily output.
