Do you have a magical way of declaring variables? Most SPs I see spend the first two or three screens on parameter and variable protocol. It's like your long winded uncle telling you about his time in Spain.

You didn't say "what" specifically the procedures were doing with variables, but sometimes the first N number of lines in a stored proc are dealing with things like null handling, to give the proc some flexibility to deal with different parameter scenarios.

A while ago you were complaining about limitations - surely you realize that to accomplish something, you need "some" number of lines of code, no? :)
