>>>Hi all,

>>>In thinking about the use of Linq for retrieving data from SQL Server or in paticular via the Entity Framework, I have been wondering about the role of stored procedures. It has been my thinking for quite some time that using stored procedures was a best practice and often a requirement. Now with Linq, how is this practice affected?

>>SP's is a best practice or not is another debate. If you ask to SQL DBA it is. If you ask me, let me think about it:)

>>You can however use SPs with Linq to SQL or EF. When it is EF, it is not as direct as with L2S but still you can. You may want to get a quick peek at this fresh article:

Now I am trying to put together my entire thinking process for best practice in using EF, SQL, and Linq. It may take a bit to figure it all out. Microsoft seemed a bit fickled in this area but I like the idea of the EF so will probably focus on EF plus Linq. The only question is if I should be dropping the SP's.

Well for myself answer is simple. Who is the db designer? Me? If so I don't prefer using SPs. I find T-SQL not so simple.
