>I got my first Mac last fall and I like it more than Windows for general use. :) Randy Brown and I will be waiting in line at an Apple store on the 24th next week to pick up or reserved iPhone 4s. I plan to do iOS development for the iPhone/iPad.

Ken, you just like to have the latest and greatest gadget!! <g>

>I focus a lot on how Servoy can be used to build on top of existing VFP apps, like adding a data-centric web client to an existing VFP app. I'm not trying to get VFP developers to migrate from VFP to Servoy, I'm creating some technical content for VFP developers and ISVs who are interested in evaluating and using Servoy, either with VFP or for some particular new solution being created. Sybase ADS is very popular within the Delphi community, and it's cool how well it works allowing you to use DBFs as it's actual data store for tables.

>I obviously have signicant knowldege about various .NET languages and the .NET platform since I worked at Microsoft and my last position there was on the Visual Studio platform/extensibility team. I still host the CodeCast podcast (http://codemag.com/codecast) show and tomorrow I record an interview with someone from the IryonPython team. You can compare platforms, but not languages. Python itself is just a language, while Servoy is an application server. Servoy is very data-centric and dynamic. Keep in mind that much of my FoxPro background is around creating tools, like GenScrnX, Class Browser, Component Gallery, BuilderB, Transformer converter, etc. Servoy as an API that allows you to re-create anything in their developer tool, and so I'm interested in that as well.

I plan to do iOS development for the iPhone/iPad. Servoy is great and allowing you to create forms/apps that work both on a rich client (Java based, cross platform) and web based. For the web client, you don't code any of the client JavaScript or HTML, all logic executes on the server via AJAX. You can create data-centric web apps that render nicely for an iPhone or iPad.

>I've always been interested in new products and technologies, and in the past few years I've given a lot of presentations around using VFP with other technologies to add to existing VFP apps or to enhance the skillset of VFP developers.

>>You are a well respected member of the VFP world and I for one would like to know what you have reviewed as a replacement for VFP. For example did you review python, vb.net, QT or any other language replacement. It also appears you like the idea of a cross platform solution too. Do you believe your next programming environment will require a cross platform solution? In general tell us what led you to your choices.
